Art and Artifice: announcing a new blog

Art and Artifice is a new art-and-law weblog, covering all aspects of art -- particularly but not limited to visual art -- and its points of intersection with the law. The team consists of Simone Blakeney (McCann Erickson), Rosie Burbidge (Forsyth Simpson) and Louise O'Callaghan (One Essex Court), with a little assistance from IPKat team member Jeremy.  The blog already has an archive reaching back to October of last year, plus all the usual functionality -- and, as you might expect, lots of illustrations.

You can visit Art and Artifice here.

Around the blogs

A stylish, sassy new blog on the block is Fashionista-at-Law, which you can find here. Not just an intellectual property blog, the opinionated, perceptive Fashionista is powered by a team of nine and it seeks to tie together the many different strands of law-meets-fashion. Naturally there's design and branding news, but this blog also covers insolvency, distribution, retailing issues, shop-lease policies, finance, outsourcing, corporate responsibility -- in short, a real shelfload of cans of worms that the fashion sector dare not neglect.

The admirable and ever-informative Intellectual Property Watch weblog has undergone a couple of discreet but welcome changes.

"Readers may have noticed a few changes ... which we hope will make us easier to use as we bring you the same great content like breaking and in-depth stories and expert views, plus new features like a microblog (the IP Burble), better subscription management, improved search capabilities, a new discussion forum, more podcasts and other products and services. For those signed up to our RSS feed, you will need to update your feed reader with the following new feed address: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/ip-watch."

Improbably, The SPC Blog -- perhaps the most niche of all the IP niche blogs -- has just notched up its 300th email subscriber. With over 50 RSS feed-readers and over 1,500 casual visitors to the site each month, it seems that there is evidence that interest in supplementary protection certificates for patents is running at an all-time high.

Bits of blog news

If you have a keen interest in data protection issues, you might want to take a look at Datonomy, a blog that has been quietly posting away since September of last year. Datonomy is still in its early infancy, but it expects plenty of action in the coming year on the regulatory, executive and litigation fronts. The cynical Merpel notes that the speed at which the public sector makes new rules and procedures for protecting personal data is only exceeded by the rate at which the public sector loses it.

Congratulations are due to another blog that has been quietly chugging along: IP Tango. Driven by a nine-person team, this bilingual (English/Spanish) blog -- which will be trilingual if it can find anyone to post on Brazilian IP matters in Portuguese -- brings news of legal and commercial developments throughout Latin America.  Last week IP Tango, which launched this June, received its 100th email subscriber. Well done!

Coming up to its first anniversary online, the IP Finance weblog has just received its 300th email subscriber. IP Finance has seven authors, spread across five countries, and it welcomes news and information concerning all and any developments at the point at which IP rights and money meet: valuation, securitisation, damages, royalties ...
